Musicians might get the glory, but there are countless unsung heroes throughout the music industry that keep Austin music alive and well. Music venue staff work late, often stressful hours in an environment that can be detrimental to their mental well-being. SIMS knows how stressful this life can be and we’re stepping in to help music venue staff with on-site mental health 101 trainings.
We’ve designed an interactive training session for music venues to ensure managers, bartenders, bar backs, sound engineers, door staff and other venue employees have the tools they need for their own mental wellness, and can identify and help customers in need of support.
Mental wellness trainings are conducted by licensed clinical staff of the SIMS Foundation. Trainings can be individualized for the venue and commonly cover topics such as:
Work stress Sexual and physical assault Harassment Conflict resolution Alcohol and drug abuse Naloxone training Mental health resources Maintaining physical health Handling intoxicated customers and customers in crisis Opening safe lines of communication within the staff
