Volunteer Code of Conduct

Purpose: This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and standards for volunteer providers representing the SIMS Foundation at community events. As a volunteer therapist, you play a crucial role in providing mental health support to event attendees/participants. Adhering to this code ensures a safe, professional, and effective environment for both volunteers and participants.

Volunteer Code of Conduct

– I affirm that my professional liability and/or malpractice insurance are current as of this date.

– I affirm that my professional license(s) and/or certification(s) to practice are current as of this date.

– I will maintain the highest standards of professionalism in all interactions with event attendees, staff, and fellow volunteers.

– I will refrain from engaging in any activities that may compromise the reputation of the SIMS Foundation or the event.

– I will respect the confidentiality and privacy of all event attendees by:

o   not taking/sharing photos of event attendees

o   not sharing any information (including through social media and/or any other personal or public platform) I learn about event attendees

– I will not accept gifts or favors from event participants or vendors without consulting a staff member of the SIMS Foundation first.

– I will maintain open and respectful communication with fellow SIMS Foundation volunteers, event staff, and participants.

– I will notify a member of the SIMS Foundation staff promptly if I am unable to fulfill my volunteer commitment(s).

– I will notify a member of the SIMS Foundation staff immediately if I believe a participant poses a risk to themselves or others.

– I agree to report any safety concerns or incidents to a SIMS Foundation staff member immediately.

– I will familiarize myself with the event’s emergency procedures and evacuation routes.

– I will adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines governing mental health practice in the state of Texas.

– I will follow the SIMS Foundation’s policies and procedures, as well as any guidelines provided by the event organizers.

By signing below, I affirm I have read and agree to abide by the SIMS Foundation Volunteer Provider Code of Conduct. I understand that any violation of this code may result in the termination of my volunteer position and/or my removal from the SIMS provider network.
